Cousins Weekend

A couple weeks before Christmas, we had my niece, Abby, for a sleepover. Keira adores Abby and they play together great.

They had tons fun painting in the tub together......

....playing with the iPad.....

.....brushing their teeth.....

Saturday, we stayed in our pajamas pretty much the whole day.

The girls kept the boys entertained with some hallway soccer.

What kind of sleepover would complete without making cupcakes?

While the girls decorated their cupcakes, I blew up a bunch of balloons for them to play with.

The boys had a blast, too.

Sunday morning, we made mini gingerbread houses.

The girls had a blast decorating, even if Abby's construction skills fell a little flat.

They had such fun, we can't wait to do it again.

2013: In Review

It's been one hell of a roller coaster ride this year. It really has. I've debated continuously on whether or not to post a "year in review" post. We've had a number of massive goods and bads. Since I'm still unable to truly wrap my head around this, I'm just going to point out the major things, include a couple photos, and move on

Back in January, we found out that not only were we expecting a new baby, but twins! I also gave my notice and rejoined the ranks of stay at home moms.

In February, Keira turned 2.

Towards the end of the month, Doug's brother passed away. It was very sudden and unexpected. He was well loved by many and will be sorely missed.

In July, our boys arrived 6 weeks earlier than expected, at 32 weeks. I don't think I've ever been so scared. But they did amazingly and have thrived beyond our expectations.

In September, we lost a dear friend to cancer at the age of 35.

This year has taken much from us, and yet has given us much as well. The best and the worst, side by side.

Goodnight, 2013.

Well, HI!

I know. I KNOW. I have all sorts of blogging urges. But I have little kids. We're getting there.

In the meantime, Christmas. I'm not gonna lie. I usually love it. This year, I'm ridiculously glad it's over. It wasn't bad, per se. In fact, it went surprisingly well. But all the preparing, the build up, the stuff. Dear lord, the STUFF! And I don't mean presents. I mean the things needed when you're spending a solid 14 hours away from home with a toddler (who is still in diapers) and two 5-month olds. We needed a suitcase. I wish I was kidding.

Anyhoo, it's done. The holidays are over and we're now struggling our way back into our normal routine of feedings and washings. To save time, I'm just going to give you a pile of picture with a few random captions. Enjoy!

Christmas Jammies!

Wrapping paper!

LOVES her doctor kit

Bath drums from Auntie Heidi

The girls helped to opens the boys' presents.

Seemed like everyone needed a nap after dinner.

She was thrilled with her Backpack filled with bath stuff
I made stockings for Doug's parents

Time to clean up!

Maybe next year we'll last more than an hour in the Christmas outfits.
